EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :
High School Diploma
Must be at least 16 years of age
Experience in swimming or teaching lessons
High School Diplomas and college/university degrees must be obtained from an accredited program or university approved by the United States Department of Education and the Texas Education agency.
PRIMARY PURPOSE SUMMARY :
Responsible for in-water teaching physical, social, learning, and emotional skills, values and attitudes to the students within the local Swim America Program.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.
Teaches swim lessons in accordance with SwimAmerica guidelines.
2.
Serves as lifeguard for adult lap swim, open swim, and swimming competitions.
3.
Operates cash register for Aquatic Center.
4.
Ensures general safety, cleanliness, and appearance in and around the pool area.
5.
Responsible for set-up of activities/programs.
6.
Maintains confidentiality of information.
7.
Performs all other tasks and duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
• Thorough knowledge and application of swimming and water safety skills
• Thorough knowledge and application of teaching swimming and water safety skills
• Skill in monitoring a large number of pool participants.
• Ability to maintain a level of training and fitness commensurate to performing the essential functions of the job
• Ability to react efficiently and effectively in emergency rescue situations
• Ability to perform assigned tasks requiring physical strength and agility
• Ability and willingness to swim and get in the pool
