STAFFING IS CONTINGENT UPON THE AVAILABILITY OF FUNDS Location: Jackson-Keller ES Work Schedule: 10 Months Work Type: Regular Full-Time Exempt: Yes REASONS TO JOIN NEISD TEACHER/LIBRARIAN COMPENSATION : Salaries for new classroom teachers and librarians are based on the salary ranges below (10-month work schedule) Minimum 0 Years 5 Years 10 Years 15 years 20 Years Max 25 Years $57,000 $58,600 $60,550 $62,350 $64,650 $66,400 In accordance with House Bill 3, the ranges above include additional compensation for classroom teachers with more than five (5) years of experience.
All salary ranges are adopted annually by the Board of Trustees.
The District ensures salary placement for new hires will be based on verified years of experience according to the Commissioner's Rules on Creditable Years of Service .
These ranges should not be used to project salary amounts for subsequent years.
In addition, teachers and librarians may qualify for the following stipends: Advanced Degree Stipends Performance and Other Supplemental Stipends Bilingual & ESL Stipends **IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING CALCULATION OF PAY: The annual pay for this position is pro-rated based on the effective date of the assignment** EDUCATION : Bachelors Degree Bilingual preferred CERTIFICATION : Valid Texas Teaching Certificate with required endorsements for subject and level assigned High School Diplomas and college/university degrees must be obtained from an accredited program or university approved by the United States Department of Education and the Texas Education Agency.
PRIMARY PURPOSE SUMMARY : Responsible for creating a classroom environment focused on high learning expectations and the personal growth of at-risk students; establish effective rapport and strong relationships with each student; provide students with appropriate grade-level learning activities, targeted prevention, acceleration, re-teach, and/or intervention that supports access to grade-level instruction, as well as experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical and social growth; and to establish good relationships with parents and other staff members.
Enable at-risk students to develop, knowledge, competencies and skills to become responsible citizens that will be ready for the demands of secondary, college, career, or the military, and function successfully in society.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1.
Develop lessons that reflect the needs of at-risk students based on data and differences in student learning styles.
2.
Establish and communicate learning intentions and success criteria to students.
3.
Present subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency, Board Policies, and Administrative Regulations.
4.
Plan and use data to design appropriate instructional learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned.
5.
Use assessment data to develop and monitor learning goals with students.
6.
Conduct assessments of student learning and use results to plan and adjust instructional activities.
7.
Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for identified at-risk special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP).
8.
Work with other members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives and methods according to District requirements.
9.
Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.
10.
Help at-risk students analyze and improve study methods and habits by providing constructive feedback.
11.
Analyze ongoing assessment of student learning through formal and informal assessments and provide small group instruction to support Tier 2 and/or Tier 3 acceleration, re-teach, prevention, or intervention.
12.
Be a positive role model for students and support mission of North East Independent School District.
13.
Create classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social and emotional development of students.
14.
Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
15.
Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials and facilities.
16.
Collaborate with other teachers and staff through the Professional Learning Communities (PLC) model to improve the quality of student learning.
17.
Establish and maintain openness of communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals and teachers.
18.
Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents and community members.
19.
Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly 20.
Participate in staff development activities to improve job related skills.
21.
Successfully complete all professional development training within established timelines as required by the Texas Education Agency and the District.
23.
Keep informed of and comply with state, District, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
24.
Compile, maintain and file all reports, records and other required documents.
25.
Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
26.
Maintain confidentiality of information.
27.
Report to work on time every day.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: • Knowledge of subjects assigned • General knowledge of curriculum and instruction • Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior • Ability to adjust and be flexible to a multitude of situations as they occur • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community • Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format • Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors • Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems • Ability to concentrate, interpret policy and procedures, reason, understand verbal instructions, analyze, differentiate, memorize, read, coordinate, compile, compute, instruct, and maintain emotional control • Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills • Valid Texas Driver’s License with driving record that meets the requirements of the District Application to a specific job opening does not guarantee an individual will maintain this assignment permanently upon employment.
