JOB SUMMARY: The HS Associate Teacher will be responsible for implementing the curriculum in accordance with Head Start Performance Standards, Childcare Licensing, and the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).
Ensures that services provided are in alignment with the Social Determinants of Health through a trauma informed care lens as defined by the agency.
Provides an enriching, warm, and nurturing environment that welcomes children with all abilities.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS: 1.
Reports to: Education Center Operator or designee 2.
Directs: Mentor teacher assistants and volunteers 3.
Other: Works cooperatively with all staff to accomplish the mission, goals, objectives and performance measures of the program and agency ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS: Required Competencies/Skills: Healthcare and Human Services Environments: Ability to explain issues and advancements in the healthcare and human services industries.

Essential Functions: 1.
Responsible for creating and implementing developmentally appropriate lesson plans that reflect school readiness and are inclusive of all abilities.
Conduct on-going assessments of student growth and development.
2.
Review Individual Education Plans (IEP), modify curriculum, and provide accommodations as needed.
3.
Collect, enter, and analyze classroom data using agency’s provided databases.
4.
Communicate with parents regarding their child’s development and provide guidance on developmental milestones.
5.
Foster positive relationships and maintain a trustworthy, professional, and secure environment for children, families, and staff.
Promote a culturally inclusive environment.
6.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized classroom environment.
7.
Provide two home visits and parent teacher conferences in collaboration with other classroom staff.
8.
Attend all agency required meetings/ or trainings.
Apply insight gained to daily practices.
9.
Participate with the agency on the retention and recruitment of children and families.
10.
Participate in the Texas School Ready (TSR) project is expected for the first three years of employment with Family Service Head Start, to include participation in off campus e-Circle training sessions for 22 weeks and classroom observations by the TSR Coach/Mentor.
11.
Perform other duties as assigned based on program need.

Education/Training/Experience: 1.
Associate degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field with twelve hours in ECE.
Associate teachers must be currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program and maintain enrolment until Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field has been completed.
2.
Teachers with a Texas Teacher Certificate must also have at least twelve hours in Early Childhood Education.
3.
Food Handler Certification must be obtained within 6 months of employment.
4.
Current Pediatric CPR and First Aid Certification.
5.
Previous educational classroom experience and able to utilize various learning techniques in the successful delivery of curricula.
6.
Bilingual candidates desirable.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES: 1.
Certificate or license, as applicable, by the appropriate State agency as a qualified practitioner.
2.
State of Texas vehicle operator’s license and proof of liability insurance.
