**2024-2025 SCHOOL YEAR OPENING** RESUME MUST BE SUBMITTED WITH APPLICATION Location: Richard A Middleton Education Center Work Schedule: 11 Months Work Type: Regular Full-Time Exempt: Yes Pay Grade: CS2 REASONS TO JOIN NEISD **IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING CALCULATION OF PAY: The annual pay for this position is pro-rated based on the effective date of the assignment EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE : Master’s Degree or four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience CERTIFICATION : Valid Texas Teacher Certification by the State Board for Educator Certification Valid Educational Diagnostician Certification by the State Board for Educator Certification High School Diplomas and college/university degrees must be obtained from an accredited program or university approved by the United States Department of Education and the Texas Education Agency.
PRIMARY PURPOSE SUMMARY : Responsible for completion of the formal comprehensive individual assessment (intellectual and educational) of students to determine eligibility for Special Education services.
Interprets test results for the student, partners and school staff as may be appropriate.
Attends initial and reevaluation Admission, Review, Dismissal (ARD) meetings and assists in the development of the students' Individual Educational Plan (IEP).
Consults with instructional staff members and other school personnel regarding instructional prevention and/or intervention strategies for student learning and behavioral problems.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1.
Monitors and assesses student ability and achievement.
2.
Addresses the educational needs of at-risk students.
3.
Directs resources and efforts to address the most pressing student needs.
4.
Works with staff to plan, implement and evaluate IEPs on a systematic basis including students and community representatives as appropriate.
5.
Recognizes varying school climates and adjusts accordingly.
6.
Complies with District policies, as well as state and federal laws and regulations regarding instructional programs and staffing.
7.
Meets reasonable time lines in performing evaluations, dictation and test interpretations.
8.
Performs comprehensive individual appraisal of students using appropriate instruments to access intellectual ability and academic achievement.
9.
Prepares well written, accurate, formal reports in which information from various sources is combined and summarized; test results are evaluated and interpreted; and recommendations are developed and conveyed.
10.
Serves as a resource person in interpreting the general objectives, laws, policies and procedures of the Special Education program to students, parents, staff and community.
11.
Works with the faculty and encourages student and parent input in developing a student behavior management system.
12.
Conducts oneself in a professional ethical manner in accordance with generally accepted community standards; complies with the Texas Education Agency (TEA) Code of Ethics.
13.
Reports to work on time every day.
14.
Maintains confidentiality of all information.
15.
Frequently required to drive personal vehicle in the performance of assigned tasks.
16.
Performs additional duties and accepts responsibilities as may be assigned.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: • Strong consultation skills for conferencing with teachers, parents, and students • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills • Above average proficiency in the use of a computer and knowledge and ability to use and/or learn to use Word Processing, Special Education Student Management System, and Data Management Systems • Valid Texas Driver’s License with driving record that meets the requirements of the District ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________ While all applications will be reviewed, not all applicants will be interviewed.
