PRIMARY PURPOSE SUMMARY : Coordinate and provide professional development services for Mathematics teachers district-wide ensuring quality curriculum, instruction, and assessment development.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1.
Provides curriculum, instruction, and assessment support and professional development for all involved personnel (principals, assistant principals, academic deans, counselors, teachers, novice teachers, etc.
) to ensure a consistent and effective Mathematics program at all Title I campuses.
2.
Facilitates vertical articulation of the PreK-12 Mathematics program.
3.
Supports campus leadership in goal setting, including assisting with district and campus instructional plans.
4.
Assists campus leadership with data analysis, planning, and student goal setting.
5.
Works collaboratively with the Division of Instruction to plan, implement, and evaluate department instructional goals.
6.
Maintains frequent communication with the Division of Instruction regarding campus support.
7.
Works collaboratively with other Mathematics specialists and Title I campus personnel to promote the use of best practices in Mathematics instruction, including differentiated instruction and using data to guide instructional decisions.
8.
Monitors student achievement in Mathematics by reviewing and analyzing formative and summative assessments, including benchmark, district, and state assessments.
9.
Models the use of data to drive instructional decisions, including the use of the district data management system.
10.
Uses student achievement data to determine the scope of work with specific campuses.
11.
Assists in the development of formative and summative assessments including benchmarks and common assessments.
12.
Performs model teaching within the classrooms focusing on best practices in Mathematics education.
13.
Plans, presents, and evaluates professional development programs, workshops, and seminars for Mathematics teachers.
14.
Facilitates and participates in curriculum development and assists in textbook and instructional materials review.
15.
Integrates current research and effective instructional practices in campus support activities.
16.
Collaborates with district personnel to facilitate the integration of emerging technologies in the Mathematics classroom.
17.
Fosters and promotes collegiality and team building throughout the community.
18.
Works cooperatively with the Division of Instruction to improve student achievement.
19.
Commits to continued professional growth by participating in professional development, book studies, and by participating in professional organizations concerned with the teaching of mathematics.
20.
Provides professional development outside of the regularly scheduled workday, including Saturdays.
21.
Effectively manages personal time, including maintaining a daily log of activities.
22.
Maintains confidentiality of information.
23.
Reports to work on time every day.
24.
Performs additional duties and accepts other responsibilities as may be assigned.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: • Demonstrates qualities of a master teacher in the area of Mathematics • Strong preparation in the area of Mathematics • Knowledge of child and adolescent development and ability to apply that knowledge to the selection and application of curriculum materials and instructional practices • Skill in classroom management and ability to achieve, support, and maintain acceptable student behavior • Skill and ability to utilize technology to aid instruction, assessment and learning • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills • Ability to evaluate instructional program and teaching effectiveness • Valid Texas Drivers License with driving record that meets the requirements of the District While all applications will be reviewed, not all applicants will be interviewed.
