Job Description
The Department of Computational, Engineering, and Mathematical Sciences at Texas A&M University-San Antonio (A&M-SA) seeks applications from qualified candidates, with a passion for teaching, for a full-time non-tenure-track Instructional Assistant Professor position in Cybersecurity.
Excellence in teaching at all levels of the curriculum, participation in grant funded developmental projects, and ability to collaborate with colleagues on curricular and programmatic issues is expected.
Contribution to attracting and retaining students majoring in cybersecurity is a priority for the institution.
Establishing relations with industry and government to solicit realistic cybersecurity projects for students is required.
The base teaching load at A&M-SA for Instructional Assistant Professor is 4/4.
Summer teaching assignments may be available but are not guaranteed.
Service to the department, college, university, and the community is expected.
This is a position that requires teaching in person on campus though a few courses may be taught online.
The Department provides a rich educational experience for students interested in computing, cybersecurity, engineering technology, and mathematics.
We offer bachelor’s degree programs in these disciplines as also support courses in physics for STEM majors.
We also offer Master's degree programs in Computer Science and Cybersecurity.
Our students enjoy learning in person and in online/hybrid courses with small class sizes in high-tech classrooms.
We emphasize hands-on experiential learning and critical thinking, and the participation of students in research under our faculty’s mentorship.
A&M-SA is committed to inclusive excellence.

Required Education and Experience: Ph.
D.
degree or its equivalent in computer science/cybersecurity or a closely related field with a specialization in cybersecurity from an accredited institution.
ABD will be considered if the requirements for the Ph.
D.
degree are completed before December 31, 2023.
5 years or more of industry experience or college-level teaching experience in cybersecurity, along with an M.
S.
degree in computer science, cybersecurity, or a closely related field, can substitute for a Ph.
D.
degree.
A minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in computer science, cybersecurity, or a closely related field.
Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills: Excellent skills in interaction and communication with students, faculty, and staff.
Excellence in computer science or cybersecurity teaching at the university level, commensurate with the rank of Instructional Assistant Professor.
Potential for establishing relations with industry and government to secure projects for students.

Plans for developing relations with industry and government to update competency in cybersecurity.
Long term plans for involvement in enhancing the breadth, depth and quality of our students' educational experiences.
