Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following: Provides instruction to high school participants within Academic Year and/or Summer Component.
For the Fall and Spring Semesters academic instructors will be in person on Trinity University's campus once a month for a designated Saturday date.
During the Summer Program component instructors will be on an A/B schedule, either Monday/ Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday for six weeks on Trinity University's campus.
Develops course curriculum including a detailed syllabus, lesson plans, and assessment measures.
Manages and records student assessment measures and documentation including progress and final reports.
Advises and directs student tutors in the implementation of course lessons.
Provides formative and summative feedback to program staff on student capabilities and needs.
Participates in staff meetings and development workshops.
EDUCATION Required: Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university.
EXPERIENCE Required: One year of experience teaching Chemistry, Biology, and/or Anatomy and Physiology classes.
One year of experience in direct service to low income and/or first-generation students.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Required: Expertise in academic area of instruction and use of classroom technology.
Skill in the development of curriculum that clearly outlines the course requirements, rationale, goals, and objectives.
Proficient in implementing strategies and systems for the management, assessment and evaluation of student learning.
Strong understanding of the academic and social barriers faced by low-income and potential first-generation students.
Preferred: Ability to create a learning environment that encourages student involvement and participation.
Excellent time management and communication skills.
Versatility in delivery of instructional lessons.
Flexibility and comfortable in implementing a differentiated curriculum.
Willingness and enthusiasm for teaching high school students.
Preference for individuals who have succeeded in overcoming barriers similar to those confronting the project's target population.
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS Preferred: Teaching Certification in subject of academic instruction.
