Job Description Summary
The Japan Program Faculty Coordinator is both an instructor and a manager for Trinity’s Summer Japan Program.
The position requires extensive knowledge and college-level teaching experience of Japan’s culture and society.
Additionally, it requires the ability to plan travel and events and book speakers within Japan.
Also required are: budget management skills, the ability to use computer software, social media skills, and a willingness to temporarily relocate and live in Japan.
Moreover, full Japanese fluency and knowledge of Japanese business etiquette is required.

Responsibilities
Coteach the class INTL 3357 Contemporary Japanese Politics and Society
Manage all events of the Japan Program taking place in both San Antonio and on location in Japan
Support students in their cultural adaptation to Japan
Support students with basic knowledge of Japanese language
Manage the Japan Program Budget
Coordinate with University stakeholders as needed
Coordinate with Japanese universities and other institutions or vendors over email or video conference
Coordinate with faculty from peer institutions
Maintain the Japan Program social media presence (Facebook, Twitter, etc.
)
Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
Teaching experience in higher education, minimum 5 years
PhD in a related field
Experience leading a study abroad program in Japan
Full Japanese language fluency, including professional Japanese
Mastery of Japanese business etiquette
Knowledge of Japanese culture, religious beliefs, and social norms
Ability to research, develop and coordinate itineraries that fulfill the program's educational and cultural objectives, in collaboration with program's stakeholders
Knowledge of Japanese cultural artifacts and art forms such as Kabuki, Manga, Anime or others, both modern and traditional
