Position Description
Saint Mary’s Hall is seeking a passionate, energetic Head Field Hockey Coach who strives to build a highly competitive and challenging program for the SMH student-athletes, while supporting the school’s mission.
Saint Mary’s Hall is committed to offering a rewarding experience for the students while maintaining high academic standards.
A SMH coach is an individual who seeks excellence daily while teaching life skills that will benefit the student-athletes within the program for many years to come.
Responsibilities
Work with the Athletic Director to oversee the Field Hockey program, to include but not limited to scheduling game, practices, and team organization.
Work in coordination with the athletic department to grow student participation and encourage participation and interest in field hockey within the student body.
Work with the athletic department to provide opportunities for instruction and skill development for Lower School students if available.
Act as a positive role model in all settings and foster an environment of respect, integrity, and responsibility.
Help maintain high standards of sportsmanship and fair play in all facets of the athletic program.
Always exemplify a sense of professionalism which includes game and practice times, with opponents, parents, faculty, staff, and administration.
Qualifications
Thorough knowledge of fundamentals, technical aspects, and strategy for field hockey
Ability to attract and retain qualified athletes and to facilitate timely progress toward graduation.
Effective oral and written communication skills
Ability to learn, apply and adhere to TAPPS rules and regulations.
Ability to interact well with officials, coaches, parents, and the public.
Ability to work with students of all backgrounds and mentor student-athletes.
Demonstrated leadership skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with other departments on campus.
Excellent communication, organizational, and administrative skills
Ability to travel and work flexible hours, including weekend and evening hours.
Physical Requirements/Working Environment
Will require travel to various events to include overnight trips.
Will work nights or weekends.
Works mostly in the outdoors in any number of elements.
Will involve frequent bending, moving, lifting, and carrying materials less than 50 lbs.
Operates various types of office equipment.
Work in a rigorous academic environment dealing with a wide variety of physical and intellectual challenges, deadlines, and a varied and diverse array of contacts.
