Job Title: Assistant Principal FLSA Status: Exempt Job Status: Full Time Responsibility Level: Supervisory Department Name: C & I Reports to: Principal Position Qualifications Individuals must be able to work well under pressure.
Must have the ability to organize and set appropriate priorities to meet deadlines.
Able to work as part of a highly functioning team.
Ability to interpret data collected and makes appropriate and meaningful recommendations as required.
Job Specifications and Requirements Bachelor’s Degree and Texas Educator Certificate Required Master’s Degree preferred Minimum of three (3) years supervisory experience within education preferred Skills and Abilities • Knowledge of curriculum and instruction • Ability to consistently implement the philosophy and policies of the district • Ability to create a positive and cohesive environment for faculty, staff, and students • Ability to evaluate instructional programs and teaching effectiveness • Ability to exercise good judgment in decision making • Ability to involve faculty and staff in consistent improvement efforts • Ability to manage operations of the campus • Knowledge in the selection, training, and supervision of personnel • Knowledge of all laws and rules specifically related to charter school operations • Knowledge of federal, state, and district employment laws, rules, and regulations Position Summary Assists the Principal in implementing the philosophy, policies, and procedures of SWPS and Southwest Winners Foundation Major Job Duties and Responsibilities • Plays a primary leadership role in enrolling new students and maintaining positive student behavior on the campus • Documents policy violations and initiates court proceedings when required • Manages ISS and alternative education programs • Monitors student progress • Assist in the development of behavioral management strategies to identify, address, resolve, and document student positive and negative behavioral trends • Reports disciplinary incidents into PEIMS • Keeps parents/guardians informed, telephonically or by correspondence, of student’s inappropriate behavior or exemplary performance • Maintains positive and effective front office activities and effective communication with students and parents • Serves as campus testing coordinator at the campus level • Monitors tardiness and attendance issues and designs and implements strategies and policies to decrease occurrences • Assists with safety inspections and safety drills • Assists in providing appropriate professional development for faculty and staff • Substitutes for the principal as required • Observes and insists that others observe professional ethical standards in accordance with generally accepted community standards and the Texas Educators Code of Ethics Minor Job Duties and Responsibilities Accepts and completes other duties as assigned by the principal or by the superintendent Working Conditions WORKING CONDITIONS:The physical demands and work environment described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and phone, and other equipment utilized by this position.
The person in this position frequently communicates with students, parents, teachers, and administrators and must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
Light to moderate lifting is required.
Regular, predictable attendance is required.
Noise level is consistently moderate but can be heavy during athletic activities, passing periods, and lunchtimes.
