We are currently searching for qualified and dedicated teachers to teach English Language Arts to 5th/6th-grade students for the 2024-2025 academic year at our PK-7 campus.
Job Description
*POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:*
o Possess a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
o Hold a valid Texas Teacher Certificate for the specific grade level and ESL Supplemental.
*DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:*
o Develop a program of study that caters to the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
o Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
o Prepare lesson plans that reflect accommodations for individual differences.
o Be prepared for classes assigned and show written evidence of preparation when requested by immediate supervisor.
o Encourage students to maintain standards of classroom behavior.
o Guide the learning process towards achieving curriculum goals and establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and communicate these objectives to the students.
o Implement the district's philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
o Regularly assess students' achievements and provide progress reports as required.
o Refer students for evaluation by district specialists as required.
o Take necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
o Maintain accurate and complete records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
o Assist in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct.
o Develop reasonable classroom behavior rules and maintain order in a fair and just manner.
o Be available to students and parents for education-related purposes when required.
o Develop and oversee meaningful tasks for teacher aides and volunteers; and work collaboratively with department heads to assess their job performance.
o Maintain and improve professional competence.
o Participate in district and campus staff development.
o Attend staff meetings and serve on staff committees.
o Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues.
o Establish and maintain open communication with students, parents, and community members.
o Submit lesson plans in a timely manner on the platform used by the school.
o Maintain a minimum number of grades in the Gradebook in a timely manner.
o Meet with the mentor teacher regularly (if new teacher).
o Perform other assigned duties.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
o Ability to communicate effectively both in written and oral forms with all levels of management, both internal and external to the district.
o Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships both internal and external to the district.
o Ability to organize special programs for the assigned campus.
o Proficiency in using computer software, database used by the district, spreadsheet and word processing software, calculator, copy machine, and telephone.
o Ability to analyze data.
o Ability to use effective interview techniques, public speaking skills, and problem-solving skills.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
o Light work that may occasionally require light lifting.
o Occasionally required to participate in evening and weekend activities.
o Position is in a classroom setting and requires intermittent speaking, standing, walking, and writing.
o Moderate travel may be required.
* *Salary Placement*: Based on professional and teaching experience with a STEP increase of $250 for each year of approved experience.
Maximum step is 30.
* *Additional Stipends*:
* *Tier I Experience Stipend*:
* Teachers on steps 5-9 receive an additional $1,000 annually.
* *Tier II Experience Stipend*:
* Teachers on steps 10-30 receive an additional $2,000 annually.
* *Advanced Degrees*: Additional annual stipends of $1000 for a Master’s degree and $2500 for a Doctoral degree.
* *Supplemental Duty Stipends*: Various stipends for additional responsibilities, such as district department chair, Saturday tutoring, and campus coordinators.
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $58,000.
