edu/jobs/*_ *SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES* The Graduate Admission Counselor is responsible for increasing the enrollment of qualified graduate students and meeting or exceeding yearly admission goals for Schreiner University.
The Graduate Admission Counselor represents Schreiner University at university programs, recruitment events, and other related events.
This position requires travel throughout the year and evening and weekend work during the peak admission cycle.
The Graduate Admission Counselor’s primary task is to generate inquiries, applicants, admits and commits through high-impact engagement activities such as calling, texting, and recruiting prospective students within the assigned market areas.
Additional responsibilities include developing leads, attaining goals for market area(s), meeting with parents and students on or off campus, visiting other colleges, and attending college day/night programs.
The Graduate Admission Counselor communicates the features and benefits of partaking in online graduate programs.
*ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS* * Always represents Schreiner University in the most professional and ethical manner.
* Possesses extensive job knowledge of graduate academic programs, admission related work and understands the role it plays in serving the institutional goals and mission.
* Responsible for meeting or exceeding annual goals for graduate admissions as well as providing leadership and support in recruitment efforts and initiatives to meet/exceed enrollment goals for graduate students.
* Supports recruitment initiatives for the Office of Admission.
* Works with the direct supervisor and Assistant Vice President for Student Recruitment to set goals to meet enrollment targets in select graduate efforts.
* Collaborates and works closely with the University’s enrollment partners, KTA and iDesign to recruit students for MEd, PC, and MSN.
* Manages and maintains student reports to effectively execute a communication campaign that includes phone, email, social media, and face-to-face campaigns.
* Collaborates closely and builds effective partnerships with university departments, faculty, and staff to ensure seamless delivery of enrollment services to students.
* Provides prospective students with information about the graduate admission process and the financial aid process.
* Evaluate and assess prospective students’ applications for admission.
* Generates inquiries, applications, interviews, and commits for all assigned students.
* Maintains confidentiality in all matters related to the Office of Admission and Financial Services and adheres to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
* Completes recruitment of students in the assigned market area(s), reporting requirements, and timely lead follow-up (within 24 hours) to reach performance levels.
* Other duties as assigned by the supervisor or AVP of Enrollment.
* Extensive overnight travel for recruitment events, meetings, and training is required.
*OTHER FUNCTIONS* * Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
* Maintain University safety rules.
* Training in and ability to help out other populations in the Office of Admission when needed.
* Actively managing Schreiner’s customer relationship management solution (JRM) to help convert students from prospects to inquiries, inquiries to applicants, applicants to admitted, and admitted students to commit.
*EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED* * Four-year college degree (minimum).
Master’s Degree preferred.
* Bi-lingual English and Spanish a plus.
* Higher education admissions or sales experience preferred.
* Willingness to make phone calls to prospective students.
* Willingness to work weekends and evening hours to meet job requirements.
* Strong computer skills are required.
Must be able to use the Internet, Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, Calendar).
* Demonstrated proficiency using a customer relationship management (CRM) system.
* Ability to adjust, adapt, and persist regardless of setbacks.
* Possess an enthusiastic and positive attitude with a strong desire to serve others.
* Possess extensive job knowledge in college admission-related work and understand its role in serving the institutional mission.
* Ability and willingness to travel.
* Ability to set goals, organize and prioritize daily activities, exercise necessary follow-up, and be detail oriented.
* Ability to work independently to meet job requirements.
* Strong communication skills and the ability to listen attentively, convey understanding, and persuasively communicate the value of Schreiner’s education to various constituencies.
* Sales ability to “close”.
* Use of sound judgment, maturity, and responsibility.
* Driving is required; therefore, the candidate must have a valid Texas driver’s license, related insurance, and a good driving record.
