SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES The primary focus of the Outreach Coordinator is to develop and strengthen institutional relationships, promote articulation agreements, engage transfer students, and coordinate high school outreach efforts to support Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) STEM grant objectives.
The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of the unique needs of underrepresented students in STEM fields, along with the ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders to create and implement effective outreach strategies.
The position is partially grant funded and will report to the HSI STEM Program Director and Assistant Vice President for Enrollment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy to maintain and enhance relationships with partner organizations, community colleges, and high schools, facilitating collaboration and promoting the HSI STEM grant programs.
Coordinate the establishment and ongoing management of articulation agreements between institutions, ensuring a seamless transfer experience for students pursuing STEM degrees.
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of partnerships and make recommendations for improvements related to data sharing and transfer initiatives.
Design, implement, and assess transfer student engagement initiatives, such as workshops, events, and resources, aimed at promoting academic success and increasing the retention of HSI STEM grant beneficiaries.
Collaborate with high school partners to develop and execute outreach strategies, including presentations, workshops, and events, that inspire and encourage students to pursue STEM education and careers.
Continuously assess and improve outreach efforts by collecting, analyzing, and reporting on relevant data to inform future strategies and initiatives.
Act as a liaison between partner institutions, staff, faculty, and students to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
Maintain a current understanding of trends, best practices, and challenges in STEM education, particularly as they pertain to underrepresented populations.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED Bachelor’s degree in a STEM-related field, education, or a related discipline; Master’s degree preferred.
A minimum of 3 years of experience preferred in higher education, STEM education, outreach, or a related field.
Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, particularly within STEM education.
Proven ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with a variety of stakeholders, including faculty, staff, students, and external partners.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to adapt messages to diverse audiences.
Experience in program development, implementation, and assessment, with a focus on student success and engagement.
Familiarity with articulation agreements and the unique challenges faced by transfer students in STEM fields.
Self-motivated and able to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
Must have a high level of experience in the use of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), a strong digital skill set, and familiarity with data analysis tools.
Sitting, walking, and standing; talk and hear, both in person and by telephone; and use hands repetitively to operate standard office equipment; and occasionally required to lift to 25 pounds.
