The JCC Block and Dreeben School for Young Children is a play-based early childhood program accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children.
Our Program provides a supportive, nurturing environment which promotes the emotional, social, physical, cognitive, and spiritual development of young children.
The school offers a child-centered curriculum which is based on children’s interests while promoting academic development.
We are inspired by the values and philosophy of the early childhood programs of Reggio Emilia, Italy where the child is seen as a capable and competent learner and the environment is filled with beautiful natural materials which stimulate learning.
We provide hands-on-experiences which promote creativity, discovery, exploration, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
As a Substitute Teacher:
* You have the flexibility to choose the days and hours you want to work.
* Substitute Teachers have the option to select the age groups they feel most comfortable working with (we have infants-Pre-K).
* You will never be alone working with children you do not know, you will always be scheduled with at least one regular classroom teacher.
* We have 42 teachers on staff, so there is plenty of opportunity to work!
We are currently seeking educators who enjoy working with young children.
The ideal candidate:
* Is an enthusiastic, caring, patient, and compassionate professional
* Likes working with young children (infants-5 years)
* Is flexible and willing to learn
* Is responsible, reliable, and hardworking
* Has some experience working with young children or currently in college for early childhood or a related field
* Must have High School Diploma or equivalent, some college preferred
* Must be 18 years or older
* Must be able to pass a Criminal Background Check as required

Job Responsibilities:
* Filling in for when one of the regular teachers is out
* Assist the regular classroom teacher with classroom routines, activities, and needs of the children
* Supervision of young children in the classroom and on the playground
* Caring for the health and safety needs of young children (may include diaper changing)
* Respectful, professional interactions with children, families and co-workers
* Implementing activities and experiences for young children
* Light cleaning of surfaces, materials, and area as needed
