JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited university
Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or required training for subject and level assigned (Preferred)
Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned
Demonstrated work experience
JOB DESCRIPTION:
San Antonio Academy is seeking an innovative Middle School Spanish teacher for a full-time position beginning the 2024-25 school year.
This dynamic teacher will facilitate the growth of boys in a student-centered, developmentally appropriate environment focusing on research-based, best practices for educating boys.
The teacher will develop and maintain positive relationships with students, parents, faculty, and administration.
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE:
Knowledge of core academic subject assigned
An understanding of the process and demonstrated success in teaching Spanish to middle school students.
Inspire students and maximize their Scholarship, Leadership, Integrity, and Brotherhood potential
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Align teaching philosophy and practice to the SAA vision and mission
Design and deliver engaging and appropriate hands-on Spanish lessons
Work directly with members of the Spanish Department to implement the day-to-day programs, build, refine, and align curriculum for students
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Align, develop, and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the school’s curriculum program
Present subject matter according to guidelines established by the school
Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect an understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned
Conduct assessments (formal and informal) of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities
Provide instruction to students in the content area and plan with grade and content-level teams
Provide leadership and collaboration in developing an appropriate departmental program for all students
Communicate and promote the implementation of SAA guidelines on grading practices, curriculum, assessments, and instructional strategies
Participate in department and grade-level meetings
Participate in faculty committees and the sponsorship of student activities
Supervise students in- and out-of-classroom activities
Enhance professional competence through in- and out-of-school professional development and growth activities
Consistently and clearly communicate with parents
Utilize technology in the teaching and learning process
Assist in the selection of instructional supplies and materials
Demonstrate behavior that is professional, ethical, and responsible
Remain informed of and comply with school regulations and policies
Other Information
Salary: Commensurate with experience
Length of assignment: Annual (10 months)
Reports to: Division Director and Head of School
