All salary ranges are adopted annually by the Board of Trustees.
The District ensures salary placement for new hires will be based on verified years of experience according to the Commissioner's Rules on Creditable Years of Service .
These ranges should not be used to project salary amounts for subsequent years.
In addition, teachers and librarians may qualify for the following stipends: Advanced Degree Stipends Performance and Other Supplemental Stipends Bilingual & ESL Stipends **IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING CALCULATION OF PAY: The annual pay for this position is pro-rated based on the effective date of the assignment** EDUCATION : Bachelors Degree Three years of teaching experience CERTIFICATION : Valid Texas Teaching Certificate with required endorsements for subject and level assigned Thirty (30) hours of state mandated Gifted and Talented foundational training (required completion prior to or upon hire) Valid Gifted and Talented Supplemental Certificate, preferred High School Diplomas and college/university degrees must be obtained from an accredited program or university approved by the United States Department of Education and the Texas Education Agency.
PRIMARY PURPOSE SUMMARY : Serve as the instructional enrichment leader at the campus level.
Provide and coordinate gifted services to meet the academic, social, and emotional needs of identified gifted students.
Facilitate the assessment and identification of students referred for Gifted and Talented (GT) testing and communicate results to parents, students, and staff.
Provide assistance for staff in planning and delivering enrichment opportunities for all students.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1.
Facilitates all data collection for gifted and talented services in coordination with Assistant Director- Gifted & Talented, campus administration, campus teachers, and parents.
2.
Schedules, administers, scores, and norms all GT testing for student referrals K-5 and transitioning 5-6 grade students at assigned campus(es).
3.
Leads campus-level GT placement committees and communicate committee decisions with district GT staff, appropriate teachers and administrators, and with parents.
4.
Supports teachers and administrators in disaggregating campus data to determine trends and targeted areas for improvement.
5.
Maintains records of all students referred for GT testing and services provided for state compliance.
6.
Conducts professional development for campus teachers including how to identify referrals for GT testing, social and emotional needs of gifted students, and instructional strategies appropriate for gifted and high achieving students.
7.
Supports enrichment opportunities in general education classroom by collaborating with teachers to implement appropriate differentiation and modifications to lesson plans to meet the needs of gifted and high achieving learners.
8.
Develops and implements curriculum that meets the needs of diverse gifted learners.
Plans and uses appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflects an understanding of the learning styles and needs of gifted students.
9.
Creates classroom environment favorable to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of diverse gifted learners.
10.
Presents subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency, Board Policies and Administrative Regulations.
11.
Works collaboratively with GT department and GT teachers at other elementary campuses to maintain and improve gifted services for identified students districtwide.
12.
Supports district (GT) program initiatives through extensive knowledge of gifted policies and instructional strategies and assist with teacher training to build capacity at the campus level.
13.
Serves as the campus enrichment leader to facilitate initiatives including communication between district and campus.
14.
Works cooperatively with special education teachers and bilingual specialists to modify curricula as needed for twice-exceptional students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP).
15.
Uses technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.
16.
Assumes responsibility for extracurricular enrichment activities as assigned for campus students.
Sponsors outside activities approved by the campus principal.
17.
Is a positive role model for students and supports the mission of North East Independent School District.
18.
Manages student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and Student Handbook.
19.
Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
20.
Assists in selection of instructional materials.
Determines which of available instructional materials best meets the needs of gifted learners at campus(es) assigned.
21.
Establishes and maintains open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers.
22.
Maintains a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents and community members.
23.
Attends staff development activities to improve job related skills.
Successfully complete all professional development training within established timelines as required by the Texas Education Agency and the district including a minimum of 6 hours of continuing education in GT annually.
24.
Keeps informed of and complies with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers and in regards to gifted education.
25.
Compiles, maintains, and files all reports, records, and other required documents.
26.
Attends and participates in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
27.
Maintains confidentiality of all student information.
28.
Reports to work on time every day.
29.
Performs additional duties and accepts other responsibilities as may be assigned.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: • Knowledge of subjects assigned including identification and assessment of gifted students, nature and needs of gifted students, depth and complexity, creativity, and differentiation for gifted students as required by state • General knowledge of curriculum and instruction • Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills • Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior • Ability to adjust and be flexible to a multitude of situations as they occur • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community verbally and in writing • Ability to work one-on-one with teachers as well as to oversee a broader professional development effort in the school • Ability to effectively present information to campus staff, parents, and community • Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems • Ability to concentrate, interpret policy and procedures, reason, understand verbal instructions, analyze, differentiate, memorize, read, coordinate, compile, compute, instruct, and maintain emotional control • Valid Texas Driver's License with driving record that meets the requirements of the District Application to a specific job opening does not guarantee an individual will maintain this assignment permanently upon employment.
