Summary: We are looking for a qualified Technical Instructor/ Physician Assistant SME III.
This position will instruct in Physician Assistant education based on current class size and number of iterations to include performing didactic and clinical education, assisting the program staff in executing curriculum development and delivery for the Physician Assistant programs of instruction.
Tasks will include incorporating current technical subject matter, Department of Defense (DoD) and Department of the Army (DA) doctrine, regulations, policies, guidelines, lessons learned, and current work practices for molecular identification of infectious disease and biological threat agents into the instructional materials and training program in accordance with the Program of Instruction, policies, and guidelines provided.
Tasks pertaining to general course administration include assisting in maintaining training records and coordinating student attendance.
Maintains effective relationships with professional counterparts throughout the program, METC, and installation in support of MEDCoE.
This position is located in Fort Sam Houston, TX.
Responsibilities: Essential Job Functions: Assist in development and updating instructional materials (such as lesson plans, student notes with illustrations, visual aids, and examinations) incorporating current technical subject matter, DoD doctrine, policies, guidelines, lessons learned, and current work practices into the instructional materials and training program in accordance with the Program of Instruction, policies, and guidelines provided.
Conduct classroom and laboratory instruction (i.
e.
, teach) of any/all lesson topics in the courses using the approved course materials and methods that are likely to ensure that students meet established learning objectives.
Prepare samples, set up, and administer/conduct laboratory exercises.
Assist in development, set up, administer, and grade written and laboratory practical examinations as well as perform appropriate statistical analysis on exam results in accordance with the policies and guidelines provided.
Instruction may be conducted in a virtual environment over the internet using programs such as Blackboard, Microsoft TEAMS, ZOOM, or other virtual enhancement programs.
This may require monitoring and responding to questions or message board information/requests.
Provide SME support to Computer-/Web-Based Training (CBT/WBT) instructional designers and programmers developing interactive multimedia.
Provide SME/scientific technical support that is technically accurate, insightful, and creative; contribute to technical scientific discussions in a manner that is positive contribution to group/teamwork.
Perform course administrative functions including maintaining student and course administrative records, organizing training materials, and identifying supply needs.
Perform typical laboratory training logistics activities such as using supplies and equipment in accordance with guidance and budget, maintaining the order and cleanliness of the training facility as needed, and assisting with setting up and moving laboratory furniture and equipment within the facility and/or to Camp Bullis.
Qualifications: Necessary Skills and Knowledge: Shall exhibit knowledge of chemical and biological safety regulations and procedures and shall adhere to applicable safety regulations and policies.
Be able to read, write, and speak English fluently.
Possess excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills.
Possess good interpersonal relationship skills necessary for establishing and maintaining a good learning and working environment with students and faculty.
Be capable of learning and utilizing current and emerging military and commercial technology.
Be proficient with the Microsoft Windows 10 and Microsoft Office suite and incorporated programs to include Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, and Access; be proficient with photo editing software (specific item may vary).
Be able to troubleshoot basic computer hardware and software required for services being provided under each individual task order.
Minimum Qualifications: Have no less than ten (10) years of experience in clinical practice, professional knowledge, and skills as an NCCPA-certified physician assistant in the delivery of medical and surgical care utilized in the recommendation, administration, and management of medical and surgical.
Contractor employees shall maintain professional credentials: National Commission Certified Physician Assistant (NCCPA) certification Texas Licensed Physician Assistant Basic Life Support (BLS) Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Have ten (10) or more years professional knowledge and skill performing minor surgical and resuscitation procedures.
Have ten (10) or more years’ expertise in clinical pharmacology and human anatomy and Have ten (10) or more years professional knowledge and skill in performing and documenting a complete physical examination of patients of all age groups.
Have ten (10) or more years professional knowledge and skill in laboratory and radiological diagnostic testing for acute and chronic medical, surgical, and emergent conditions.
Have three (3) or more years’ experience teaching at a graduate-level physician assistant.
Have professional knowledge and skill in using complex simulation technology (e.
g.
, patient simulator and arterial/venous access mannequins).
Have professional knowledge and experience in counseling and managing students in rigorous graduate level physician assistant program.
Have professional knowledge and skill conducting graduate level research and applying experimental theories and new developments to patient care problems not susceptible to treatment by accepted methods.
Have professional knowledge of educational requirements for graduate level accreditation programs in the field of physician assistant practice.
Have professional knowledge and skills in adult educational theory and diverse instructional methodologies in support of the various learner styles.
