Summary
Under general supervision, assists with related accounting and auditing functions.
Also responsible for general to complex clerical, reception, and office support duties; prepares complex reports; maintains computerized files; performs other related duties as required.
Duties and Responsibilities
Enters and updates data utilizing spreadsheet or database applications
Reviews Accounts Payable electronic correspondence and distributes invoices accordingly
Data entry for Accounts Payable to include entering, scanning, filing, and/or updating data utilizing spreadsheet and database applications
May audit and process more involved claims for payment to include travel, court appointed attorney vouchers, request for payments, and other payables as assigned
Establishes and maintains complex reports and filing systems utilizing Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel with minimal supervision
Backup for preparing documentation for outside requests for Tax ID or Tax exemption
Communicates with internal County staff concerning discrepancies and processing issues
Backup to other Accounting Clerks
Acts as backup to office receptionist greeting and directing the general public and county staff
Answers and routes telephone calls utilizing discretion and tact
Responds to general and complex questions and office complaints
Receive, sort and distribute mail
May supervise, lead or train Accounting Clerks I’s, and administrative or clerical support personnel
Performs related duties as required
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from a Community College with a Associates in Accounting or closely related field and (1) year experience in accounting, auditing; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Knowledge of basic accounting procedures
Skill in operating a personal computer, scanner, and other office equipment.
Experience working with Infor/Lawson a plus
Skilled in problem solving, decision making, and maintaining accurate records
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, County employees and the general public
Must secure and maintain a favorable background investigation and clearance
Must be able to maintain an effective attendance record/pattern
Must clear a pre-employment physical and a pre-employment drug screen test
May be required to work more than 40 hours during the workweek

Working conditions are inside an office environment
Physical requirements include lifting/carrying 10-20 lbs.
