*GENERAL SUMMARY*
Works on projects involved in constructing, erecting, installing, and repairing structures and fixtures of wood, plywood and wallboard using carpenter’s hand tools and power tools conforming to local building codes.
Read blueprints and other spec- ifications to determine methods of installation, work procedures and materials, tools, and work requirements.
*PRIMARY DUTIES*
* Read, study, and interpret blueprints, sketches, or plans to do layouts and take offs of the materials.
* Selects, measures, and cuts different types of materials.
* Assembles materials, fastens, and verifies trueness of structure.
* Erects framework for structures and lays sub-flooring.
* Measures, saws, fits, erects, installs and nails various wooden structures.
* Measures, layouts, cuts, fits, aligns, and installs various metal framing and materials.
* Performs additional duties as required to be proficient at different trades.
* Be proficient in acoustical ceilings, which includes, but is not limited to layout, cutting, and installing different types of tiles and grid.
* Be proficient in metal stud framing which includes, but is not limited to layout, blocking, leveling, aligning, selecting different grades of materials, cutting and bracing straight/curved walls, and curved furr-downs.
* Be proficient in doors and hardware which includes, but is not limited to installation of frames, doors, door closures, and different types of hardware (panic devices, lock sets, weep holes, smoke seals, etc.
).
* Be proficient in drywall which includes, but is not limited to selecting various types of materials (sheetrock, cement board, FRP, etc.
), screw patterns, layout, tap-out, material quantities and using tools of trade (screw guns, routers, knives, etc.
).
* Be proficient in painting, including tape & float, texture, and paint.
Know different levels of wall finishes and different types of paint and their applications (e.
g.
, roll, spray, and brush).
Calculate material quantities needed to do a job.
* Be proficient on Concrete placement of minor slabs, sidewalks, etc.
, and assist with slabs and elevated structures.
*EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS*
* Must have high school diploma and/or trade school desired.
*EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS*
* Knowledge of Carpentry, with at least five (5) years of experience.
* Knowledge and understanding of safety regulations.
* Knowledge of various types of materials used and their properties/applications.
*SKILL REQUIREMENTS*
* Ability to use tools of the trade.
* Ability to read blueprints.
* Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers.
* Ability to be punctual and dependable and show up with a positive attitude.
* Ability to be a Team Player and work well with other people.
* Ability to complete tasks with minimal supervision.
*PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*
* Ability to climb ladders for heights of up to 60 feet.
* Ability to crawl for distances of 80 feet.
* Ability to lift and manipulate objects of up to 80lbs for 50 feet.
