*What You’ll Do: *Determines and designs service routes for telecommunications fiber optic and coaxial cable for residential and commercial applications using sketches, plans, and design maps along with written and verbal instructions.
Coordinates and executes surveys which include taking measurements, identifying existing devices and equipment, and proposal of future construction path.
Uploads field notes, develops the scope of work (SOW) outline, and completes cost analysis for associated construction.
The ideal candidate will also have a client focus approach and will work well independently and as part of the project team.
* Analyze network capacity, evaluating infrastructure requirements, and proposing network expansion or optimization plans * Conduct site surveys to assess the feasibility of network installations, evaluating factors such as terrain, existing infrastructure, and regulatory requirements * Research, evaluate, and select appropriate telecommunication equipment, devices, and systems needed for network deployment; to include understanding technical specifications, cost considerations and compatibility with existing infrastructure * Create and maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of network infrastructure, to include network diagrams, equipment inventories, and configuration details which will serve as a reference for troubleshooting, maintenance, and future expansion * Analyze network traffic patterns, usage trends, and future growth projections to determine network capacity requirements, to include estimating bandwidth needs, optimizing resource allocation, and recommending upgrades or enhancements to meet current and future demands * Ensure compliance with relevant telecommunication regulations, standards, and licensing requirements * Collaborate with telecommunication vendors and service providers to negotiate contracts, manage service level agreements (SLAs), and oversee the implementation of network infrastructure and services * Identify potential risks and vulnerabilities in network reliability and continuity * Effective communication with internal stakeholders, such as management, engineering teams, and operations personnel, to ensure alignment on network planning and implantation strategies * Stay up to date with the latest trends, technologies, and industry best practices in telecommunication planning; to include conferences, participating in professional networks * Familiar with permits (pole, railroad, TX Dot), easements, and right of way for service routes and works closely with the fielding crew * Complete SOW packages according to client specific standards, procedures, and requirements * Follows, interprets, and applies NESC standards as well as Utility Specific standards where applicable * Identifies and verifies existing overhead and underground utilities and reviews field data/maps and finalized application documents for accuracy and completeness *Required Qualifications: * * High school diploma or equivalent * 3 years previous experience working for a telecommunication, utility, construction, engineering, or electrical company * Related certifications and previous OSP and/or telecom design experience is a plus *Preferred Qualifications: * * Knowledge of telecommunication systems, to include voice, data, and video networks * Knowledge of various technologies such as fiber optics, wireless communication, satellite systems, and IP-based networks * Knowledge in network planning and design principles, to include capacity planning, network topology, routing protocols, and network security * Knowledge of how to analyze requirements, assess network performance, and develop efficient and scalable network designs * Skill to stay up to date with relevant telecommunication regulation and standards, both national and international * Skill in project management to plan, coordinate, and execute telecommunication projects effectively * Skill to have strong communication both written and verbal to effectively interact with stakeholders, including clients, engineers, technicians, and management * Skill to understand and apply fiber and coaxial design specifications * Ability to create accurate and comprehensive technical documentation, to include network diagrams, specifications, reports, and proposals * Ability to create project plans, manage timelines, allocate resources, and ensure timely completion of deliverables * Ability to possess strong analytical skills to collect and interpret data related to network performance, user requirements, and market trends *Not quite right for you?
