RESPONSIBILITIES:
Skill Level
Loading a truck/trailer
Stacking materials
Proper rolling of extension cords
Clean-up of the job site
Setting up a ladder
Jackhammering
Digging
Handling materials
Demolition
Setting up/taking down of scaffolding
Installing insulation
Organize assigned tasks for completion alone or with supervision
Present alternative solutions to unforeseen obstacles and building conditions to the Master Carpenter or Project Manager
Load dumpsters efficiently
Maintain a clean and neat job site
Assist in basic nailing of materials
Assist other carpenters with more complicated tasks
Learn tool and material terminology
Basic tool know-how:
Hand tools
Drill, saw, Sawzall, and miter box
Compound miter saw
Read measuring tape
Learn how to install aluminum, wood, or fiber cement exterior cladding
Learn basic framing techniques and components
Cut & install drywall
Install soffit, fascia, and exterior trim components
Install sheathing, roof decking, and subfloors
Cut and install basic interior trim, including base, door/window casing, and quarter round
Learn to assist with cabinet installation and crown mold details
Learn and assist in door and window installation
Prep wood for finishing, (fill nail holes, caulk, sand)
Prevent hazardous and unsafe working conditions
Follow instructions for basic carpenter tasks
Work Environment
Must be able to talk, hear, stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, reach with hands and arms.
