Peak Trailer Group in *San Antonio, TX* is seeking an enthusiastic, hard-working, customer-oriented individuals who can work in a team environment as a *Truck Equipment Technician.
*
The Truck Equipment Technician duties are to diagnose hydraulic and electrical repairs and/or installation of components to build and/or modify truck chassis.
Must be able to work accurately from design drawings.
Responsible for up-fitting, repairing and customizing vehicles to customer specifications.
*KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND PERFORMANCE MEASURES:*
* Determine appropriate welding, equipment, or assembly method based on requirements
* Installation of truck accessories and aftermarket parts
* Installation of PTO and hydraulic pumps
* Setting up components for welding according to specifications
* Inspection, diagnosis, troubleshooting, maintenance and repair on equipment
* Read and comprehend schematics
* Prepare and/or modify components for current or revised applications
* Operate angle grinders to prepare parts for welding
* Weld components using welding equipment in various positions
* Test and inspect welded surfaces and structure to discover flaws
* Install and work with wiring
* Demonstrate high level of proficiency and cost effectiveness in completion of work product to minimize rework and time delays in final projects being provided to customers
* Other duties as assigned
*QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:*
* A high school diploma and/or GED required.
Combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skill and abilities.
* Two years’ experience in welding and vehicle fabrication.
* DOT inspection experience desirable.
* AWS welding certifications required for work assigned.
* Ability to listen and communicate with customers, employees and co-workers.
* Able to interpret and follow drawings and work orders
* Knowledge of building, installation, and mechanical processes
* Fabrication (welding & cutting knowledge)
* Power and air tool experience
* Hydraulic experience
* Electrical experience
* Detail oriented
* Maintain own hand and small power tools required to efficiently perform work assignments
