Plan, organize, direct and control large and/or complex project construction.
Provide leadership and direction to all aspects of the workforce, including project-associated subcontractors.
Ensure that all aspects of the project are coordinated and completed in a timely, efficient, safe, profitable manner with quality standards.
Specific Responsibilities: Safety * Oversee the implementation of Walker’s safety program, adherence to OSHA rules and regulations, and compliance with site-specific safety requirements for all Walker-related personnel, including employees, subcontractors, and visitors.
* Participate in safety/incident investigations and reviews.
Ensure timely responses and document actions/corrections.
* Complete and/or review all other safety-related documentation in a timely manner.
* Coordinate and participate in all site-specific OSHA inspections, investigations, claims, as well as any other government inspection and licensing issues.
* Ensure first aid kits are complete and its contents are current.
Confirm that a medical facility has been secured for employee drug-testing and minor medical emergency treatment.
* Ensure good housekeeping practices are observed and maintained by crews and subcontractors.
* Ensure that the work area is secured each night.
Leadership & Supervision * Provide leadership and direction to foremen and general foremen.
Ensure they are efficiently completing assigned duties.
* Communicate frequently with company personnel and subcontractors.
Ensure they understand the work, the planned approach and any potential problem areas (with a back-up plan).
* Assist in resolving construction problems (lack of productivity, work interfaces, material shortages, etc.
).
* Maintain good relationships with inspectors, architects, engineers, subcontractors and other key people connected with the project.
* Accompany inspectors on project reviews.
* Establish ways to motivate and keep personnel/subcontractors/suppliers and service providers’ productivity and morale at a high level.
Planning & Scheduling * Attend pre-construction and construction meetings.
Attend, on request, all technical meetings for the purpose of discussing job progress and problem areas.
* Determine production sequence.
Coordinate assigned work with work of different crafts, contractors and subcontractors.
* Maintain and update the 3-week project forecast to ensure that materials have been ordered and scheduled for delivery, equipment has been requisitioned on a timely basis, personnel have been scheduled, and subs have been contacted and their schedules confirmed.
* Review RFI logs continuously and identify any issues that might affect the project.
* Ensure that all change orders are properly executed and indicated on as-built plans.
* Maintain liaison with engineering, estimating and planning to ensure work complies with drawings, specifications and schedule.
* Maintain liaison with other departments (logistics, purchasing, quality control, safety, engineering, etc.
) to ensure all required materials, equipment, inspections, etc.
, support craft activities and project schedule.
* Maintain close communication with project manager on any unforeseen problems that develop.
Quality Control * Ensure that the work Walker does meets standards.
Implement work processes to improve productivity and product quality.
* Oversee subcontractor productivity and ensure contractual obligations are honored.
* Review inspection reports and document resolutions to deficiencies.
Administration * Review timecards, code invoices, document additional work and back charges, maintain accurate as-built drawings and complete start-up and tool/equipment transfer forms.
* Complete the superintendent’s daily report each day.
* Ensure Task Hazard Analysis (THA) is performed and recorded daily at the start of the shift and before any tasks are performed.
* Keep the progress schedule current.
Assist project manager in calculating percent completion on items for monthly invoicing and of labor for each job cost report.
* Perform additional assignments per supervisor’s direction.
* Travel Requirements: <25% (may vary significantly among individuals in this position) Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience: * Completion of craft apprenticeship program or commensurate skill level and training * 5+ years in supervisory position * Active Texas Journeyman Electrician license * Ability to understand the project scopes and objectives as well as scopes of other construction trades * Advanced knowledge and understanding of OSHA safety regulations as well as company safety policies and procedures * OSHA-30 certification (if not currently certified, must be obtained within six (6) months from date of hire) * Ability to read drawings and interpret specifications * Ability to assess crew and foremen skills and coach/mentor * Strong leadership and team-building skills * Strong oral and written communication skills * Ability to identify, troubleshoot and resolve problems before major difficulties develop * Ability to manage differences and diversity at the workplace * Advanced understanding of construction scheduling and cost control * Ability to handle administrative duties of position, including completion of required paperwork * Effective use of computers and other technology * Ability to effectively use time management and goal-setting * Willingness to be held accountable and act honestly and with integrity * Strong attention to detail and ability to remain diplomatic and calm under pressure * Employment is contingent upon satisfying all jobsite-specific access requirements, with no outstanding restrictions from any jobsite or from working with any of Walker’s partnering General Contractors, Owners, Customers, etc.

May be used in such tasks as blue print reading and in solving geometry problems.
Frequently described as the ability to “visualize” objects of two and three dimensions, or to think visually of geometric forms.
* Ability to manipulate materials and/or equipment up to 50 lbs.

* Ability to move up or mount by using the hands or feet to include: * Ladders - Step stool, 8' to 10' ladder, extension ladder * Stairways - 3 or more flights * To bend forward or down from the middle of the waist or the middle of the back, to bend, downwards, to lower oneself and/or to move freely on hands and knees between 20-50 times daily * To stretch out, extend, or put forth a bodily part.
