RARE WWII Military Issue True Temper Machete with Army Olive Drab Green Handles - Dated 1944
True Temper manufactured these machetes for the US government during WW2 starting approximately December of 1944 to end of war, which makes the 1944 model such a rare one and more likely to have been carried and used during WWII.
■■《☆》■■ These machetes were mainly issued, carried and used by the U.
S.
Army & Marines in the brutal battles that followed after the Japanese attack of Pearl Harbor, most of which took place in the thick jungle islands of Pacific Ocean theater of World War II.
The 18" blade has the slightest signs of use.
Machete is full tang.
The blade is 1095 High Carbon Steel which is better and stronger than more recent 1095 steel that loses strength with melted down and reproduced multiple times.
The convex edge is designed grind on the blade made to chop through branches and wood without getting stuck as do flat grind and other grinds/edges.
The Army OD Green handles are in excellent condition, with no cracks, chip or breaks.
They are held together by 4 brass pins and has an extended area for grip, with a lanyard hole to attach a leather lace or paracord.
Either can be provided upon request.
