1918 Scabbard.
Both are stamped/dated and in excellent condition.
The Plumb bolo is a beast.
The knife only over all length is 15+ inches, with a blade that is 10 & 1/4 inches in length and very thick at nearly 1/4" (see photo) and weighs sightly over 1.

" (inspector's initials) The bolo knife was used for combat, trailblazing, clearing areas designated for artillery and machine gunners, digging trenches etc.
They were also used to stabilize machine guns' repetitive kickback at the two front legs of the tripods by pounding the bolos into the ground next to the tripod front legs and tying them around the bolo knife and through the hole that is at the top side of the guard.
Condition: The 1917 Plumb bolo in excellent condition.
It has no bad, red or black rust and no pitting.
It has mahogany wood handles with no breaks, chips or cracks.
The scabbard is also in excellent condition.
It has the outer liner that is made of canvas with a large portion near the tip made of a thick leather that is double stitched and has a steel drain hole at the very tip.
The inner part of the scabbard consists of a steel throat at the entry point that is attached to a hickory wood insert.
The hickory wood insert is wrapped with a rawhide cover that is hand stitched and serves as natural weatherproofs for the hickory wood insert and the bolo blade.

He and a comrade were out numbered while under attack by 20-24 German soldiers.
Henry Johnson went on the offensive, jumping out of the trenches with a 1917 Mod Plumb bolo in hand after exhausting his 3 round magazine French rifle and grenades, killing several and shocking the rest into fleeing.
