Essential Functions UTSA's Advancement and Alumni Engagement (AAE) seeks a strategic, collaborative, and solution-oriented development professional, with excellent relationship-building and communication skills to serve as an Assistant Director of Development.
Reporting to the Senior Director of Annual Giving, specific duties will include: Contribute to the planning and implementation of fundraising campaign initiatives; assist with building the university's donor pipeline by identifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding donors.
Meet or exceed defined visit and fundraising goals to increase, retain and upgrade donations from annual giving donors.
Lead digital development strategy; implement methods to digitally assess, cultivate, and solicit prospects, develop benchmarks to assess effectiveness of digital development strategy.
Manage a prospect portfolio; regularly assess next steps in collaboration with development colleagues.
Directly support activities related to donor cultivation, solicitation and stewardship for assigned colleges and units Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution with one year of relevant experience.
Additional education may be substituted for experience on a one-for-one basis.
Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communications skills; ability to build excellent relationships within all organizational levels and with outside constituencies.
Highly effective organizational skills.
Detail-oriented, self-starter with a demonstrated ability to work independently and manage more than one project simultaneously to meet deadlines.
Familiarity with development information systems and personal computers.
Ability to travel to and from meetings and other business-related events.
Preferred Qualifications Three years of professional fundraising experience with major gifts, or experience in sales of services or related industries.
Similar experience in an institution of higher education or nonprofit atmosphere.
Demonstrated ability to make cold calls as well as to develop cultivation and solicitation strategies.
Proven track record of closing gifts/sales.
Experience in collaborating with a team involving different phases of advancement including communications, special events and alumni relations.
Knowledge of development information systems, preferably Raisers Edge.
