*Back Office Medical Assistant*
General Summary: Responsible for providing patient care, assessments and medical care evaluations.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Obtain patient consent for care and ensure patient confidentiality.
Obtain and document health history, information on chief complaint, assess vital signs, health risk factors and disease condition.
Provide patient care based on practice guidelines and provide standards of care at federal/ state laws and regulations.
* Execute prescribed treatments and medical interventions, administer prescribed medications per doctors orders, and monitor and document treatment progress and patient response.
Refer to and consult with physicians and other health care providers in effort to prevent or resolve any problems or concerns.
Educates patients and family per doctor's orders regarding health maintenance and management of acute and/or chronic conditions.
* Document patient assessments and intervention data using established medical record forms/automated systems and documentation practices.
REQUIREMENTS:
* Certified Medical Assistant
* Minimum three years of medical assistant experience (preferred).
* Specialty clinic experience (preferred)
* Current state registered license (if applicable)
* Current CPR certificate
* Valid Texas Driver's License
PERFORMANCE/ KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:
* Knowledge of clinical processes; healthcare systems, and community resources
* Expertise in electronic medical records scribing
* Familiar with healthcare technology, equipment and supplies
* Familiarity with clinic policies and procedures
* Knowledge of wellness/illness, growth and development, human behavior, psychosocial factors and alternative healthcare treatments
* Knowledge of chart/medical record documentation requirements and federal/state laws related to release of health care information within electronic medical records
SKILLS:
* Excellent grammar skills
* Skilled in time management, problem solving, multitasking, prioritizing and medical care coordination
* Skilled in initiating appropriate crisis interventions and emergency response
* Skilled in patient triage in person and over the phone
ABILITIES:
* Ability to analyze options and then counsel patients and families about choices and make referrals to other providers and resources per attending physician
* Ability to engage clients and families in the development and implementation of a care plan
* Ability to read and interpret physicians' orders and notes from other providers
* Ability to calculate and administer drug dosages and injections and measure results
EQUIPMENT OPERATED:
* Standard nursing equipment and supplies including thermometer and syringes
* Possible use of assistive devices such as walkers/wheelchairs, pulse oximetry units, and oxygen tanks
* Electronic Medical Records
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
* Medical exam/treatment rooms at medical offices
* Environment controlled lighting, acoustics, air quality and temperature settings
* Environmental hazards may be unpredictable including exposure to communicable diseases and biohazards
MENTAL/ PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
* Physical requirements Involve standing, walking, bending, grasping and squatting
* Occasional need to lift patient during transfer/turn process with or without assistance
* Stress can be triggered by workload and complex cases

Pay: From $15.
