Summary: Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, recruitment, health promotion and education related to Pinnacle Clinical Research programs and activities, community outreach to patients and health care providers in the Rio Grande Valley, Corpus Christi, San Antonio, Austin and Georgetown areas as assigned.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Performs all functions and activities within the guidelines and philosophy set forth in Pinnacle Clinical Research’s Strategic Plan, Policies, Mission, Vision and Goals.
Provides health education and support to community members and peers regarding Pinnacle Clinical Research
Recruits patients through health promotion via various activities approved by Pinnacle Clinical Research i.
e.
, home visits, health fairs, public events
Develops relationships with local health care and social service providers to facilitate information sharing and service provision
Reduces stigma and other barriers to initiating or continuing health care at Pinnacle Clinical Research by providing good information to both community members and health care providers
Actively participates in, and successfully completes, training provided by South Texas Research Institute and other agencies when applicable
Represents organization in the community
Assists in completing program goals and requirements
Other duties as assigned
Education/Experience:
Previous Promotora experience required
Excellent written and communication skills
Education requirements correlate to Texas Department of State Health Services certification requirements
Training – Completion of an approved DSHS certified 160-hour competency-based Community Health Worker training program OR Experience – At least 1000 cumulative hours of community health work services
Ability to work independently and as a team to meet goals, objectives and deadlines
Knowledge, Skills, and Other Abilities:
Bilingual required – Fluent in English and Spanish
Be willing to travel at minimum 50% of the job
Must have reliable transportation
