As a Quality Assurance Leader, you will be responsible for the training and instruction of all newly hired Freight Handlers, while improving the following four Process: cargo claims prevention, dock efficiency, trailer cube utilization, and injury prevention.
Responsible for the continual development of all Freight Handlers, utilizing the Quality Improvement Process and the Individualized Quality work group structure.
Train and develop new Freight Handlers in detailed fundamentals and responsibilities.
Provide re-training to experienced Freight Handlers in order to achieve continuous measurable improvement in the areas of claims avoidance, productivity, safety, and cube utilization (load average).
Assist in creating and maintaining the necessary procedures to ensure a clean, safe, and healthy environment for all associates.
Proactively work with Service Center leadership regarding trainee performance and recommend plans of action.
Assist in evaluating overall and individual Freight Handler performance.
Continually evaluate results to emphasize excellence.
Proactively take corrective action when clearly defined procedures are not followed.
Train Freight Handlers in loss prevention procedures, with avoidance as a primary approach.
Keep Service Center management apprised of additional orientation or training needs.
Maintain superior customer relations by adding value to every transaction.
May perform the duties of a Freight Handler to ensure all work is completed in a timely manner.
As a back-up in this role, the Quality Assurance Leader: secures or re-secures cargo by using the appropriate method and tools to prevent damage; properly braces, balances, and secures freight to prevent shifting that may contribute to an accident during transport; is responsible for hooking and unhooking trailers and twins, ensuring couplings are adequately secured to prevent separation in transit, and ensures all outbound loads are loaded to maximize trailer cube utilization.
For this role, you will need to have at least a High School Diploma or GED and at least 6 months of Less Than Truckload (LTL) freight handling experience.
