Summary
Under direct supervision, is responsible for answering question in person and via telephone, preparing and imaging legal documents; performing data entry; preparing copies of official documents; preparing billing statements; cashiering customer transactions; processing mail; and performing related duties as required
Duties and Responsibilities
Answers questions in person and by telephone, responds to inquiries and refers calls to other departments as appropriate
Examines documents to be scanned for legibility and sufficient recording and indexing information
Adjusts scanning equipment to correct optical settings for exposure, density, and resolution
Scans documents and monitors screen image to ensure proper recording
Performs quality assurance on scanned and e-filed documents
Performs research on active and inactive case files
Performs data entry to initiate, update, and close case files of services such as protective and restraining orders, and withholding orders
Prepares billing statements for copies and other services performed for the general public and routes to cashier
Cashiers receipts and billing statement transactions
Processes incoming and outgoing mail
Makes plain, certified, and exemplified copies of legal documents
Performs general clerical duties
Performs related duties as required
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from High School or General Education Development (GED) certificate; and two (2) years general office experience; additional education in a related field may be substituted for experience
Knowledge of basic office procedures; and knowledge of alphabetic and numeric file systems
Skill in operating a personal computer, imaging equipment, and basic office equipment
Ability to accurately enter data; ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing; ability to deal with hostile or irrational individuals; ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions; ability to effectively respond to customer inquiries and complaints; ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with co-workers, other County employees, attorneys and the general public; ability to accurately collect cash; ability to perform basic mathematical calculations
Acts in the name of the District Clerk and shall perform all official acts as may be lawfully done and performed by such Clerk in person, pursuant to Section 51.

Must be bondable
Must have legible penmanship
Must secure and maintain a favorable background investigation by the District Clerk
Must secure and maintain a pre-employment physical and pre-employment drug screen
May be required to work more than 40 hours during the workweek
Working Environment and Physical Demands:
Constantly working in indoor conditions
Occasionally moves items weighing up to 10-15 pounds
Position frequently communicates with others; must be able to exchange accurate information
Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer
Position needs to occasionally move about the office
Must be able to remain in a stationary position
