PRIMARY PURPOSE SUMMARY : : Responsible for completion of the formal comprehensive individual assessment (intellectual, educational and psychological) of students to determine eligibility for Special Education services.
Interprets test results for the student, parents and school staff as may be appropriate.
Attends Admission, Referral, Dismissal (ARD) meetings and others when appropriate to assist in the development of the students' Individual Educational Plan (IEP).
Counsels with individuals and groups of students as necessary.
Consults with instructional staff members and other school personnel regarding instructional prevention and/or intervention strategies for student learning and behavioral problems.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: : 1.
Helps in determining eligibility for special education through individual evaluation and review of data from school and home.

Conducts individual intellectual, academic and psychological evaluations.
3.
Administers psychological test battery to determine possible emotional disturbance or autism.
4.
Facilitates home-school cooperation to enhance academic achievement and emotional stability.

Collaborates with campus staff in addressing student needs.

Interprets evaluation results to parents and school staff.
7.
Functions as a liaison between the school and the family in student assessment and interpretation of test results.
8.
Counsels individually and in-group format with special education qualified students.
9.
Assist teachers in developing student functional behavioral assessments and behavior intervention plans.

Maintains working knowledge of District curricula and instructional strategies.
11.
Attends ARD meetings to review/interpret evaluation results and provide information on teaching strategies/behavioral interventions and assist in development of IEP's.

Reviews and helps in the determination of eligibility for special education services on out of District assessments in the state of Texas.

Participates as legally required in ARD committee meetings.
48.
Ensures that ARD committee meetings are conducted appropriately to comply with applicable state and federal guidelines.
49.
Serves as a resource person in interpreting the general objectives, laws, policies and procedures of the Special Education program to students, parents, staff and community.
50.
Works with the faculties and encourages student and parent input in developing a student's behavior intervention plan.
51.
Consults with administrators, teachers and counselors regarding intervention strategies as requested.
52.
Assists in providing staff development opportunities regarding classroom behavior management.
53.
Participates on Crisis Intervention Team as needed.
54.
Works to alleviate parental anxiety in matters pertaining to student assessment, program eligibility and the Individual Educational Plan.

Responds to parent/community concerns in a timely manner.
