Description:
Incarnate Word High School, an all-girls Catholic high school sponsored by the sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word, seeks a part-time Assistant basketball/Head Freshman Coach to assist the head varsity coach and serve as the head freshman team coach for the 2024-2025 school year.
REPORTS TO:
This position reports to the Athletic Director of Incarnate Word High School (IWHS).
POSITION SUMMARY:
· Assists the head coach with instructing players in the rules, regulations, equipment and techniques of the sport.
· Organizes and directs individual and small group practice activities/exercises as directed by the head coach (Specifically the freshman team)
· Assesses player’s skills, monitors players during competition and practice, and keeps the head coach informed of the athletic performance of athletes.
· Assists with determining game strategy
· Assists the head coach with supervising athletes during practices and competition.
· Follows established procedures in the event of an athlete’s injury
· Models’ sports-like behavior and maintains appropriate conduct towards players, officials and spectators.
· Participates in special activities to include parent’s night, banquets, awards night and pep assemblies.
· Works with the athletic director with eligibility, equipment inventory and other related paperwork
· Attends staff meetings, clinics and other professional activities to improve coaching performance.
· Performs any other related duties as assigned by the head coach and athletic director.
Requirements:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Must possess effective coaching techniques and skills for basketball.
Must possess a thorough knowledge of the rules, regulations, strategies and techniques of the sport through prior softball coaching experience.
Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school administrators, parents and students.

Successful completion of VIRTUS and background check
REQUIRED EDUCATION
High School Diploma – required.
College Degree – preferred
