Job Summary:
The Intern Cyber Security Analyst will collaborate with analysts to understand and facilitate the identification, testing, validation, tracking, researching, and provisioning of corrective consultation based on threat intelligence or vulnerabilities in applications and infrastructure assets.
Data collected, analyzed, and evaluated will assist in the strategic design and implementation of controls to secure sensitive business data and protect system boundaries, endpoint systems and network devices.
The selected individual will to report to the Lead Cyber Security Analyst to help develop effective mitigation strategies while promoting the awareness of applicable regulations, standards, risks, and industry best practices across the enterprise.
Job Responsibilities
Assists in the development of tailored and actionable responses to threats and vulnerabilities that influence the design, implementation, and effective monitoring of enterprise resources.
Monitors the environment using endpoint detection and response (EDR), web proxy, and vulnerability management solutions to detect, analyze, report, and influence process improvements.
Collaborates with engineers to optimize security tools and their outputs to produce meaningful and actionable alerts in response to real and perceived threats.
Conducts Open-Source intelligence (OSINT) reviews on solutions to help determine risk to the business.
Complements the security awareness, education, and training program by analyzing real-world events, presenting actionable information, and producing learning materials to positively influence cyber habits.
Participates in incident response activities by responding to and reporting on ongoing threat activities, remediation strategies, and continuous threat intelligence monitoring as needed.
Collaborates in the escalation and communication of control deficiencies and vulnerabilities.
Reviews baselined security configurations for operating systems, and network, application, and cloud services to stabilize and reduce attack surface footprint.
Collaborates on the development and implementation of continuity of operations and standard operating procedures, plans, and protocols.
Authors documentation supporting continuity of operations, playbooks, and educational materials (e.
g.
, blogs, bulletins, etc.
).
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications
Education & Experience
4-year college degree in Cybersecurity, IT, or other related field in progress.
Open to students starting their senior year.

Skills
Basic knowledge of security principles, techniques, best practices, and protocols
Foundational understanding of enterprise-class security technologies such as firewalls, routers, switches, wireless access points, VPNs and desktop and server operating systems
Understanding of web related technologies (web applications and services, service-oriented architectures) and of network/web-related protocols
