Overview:
GovCIO is currently hiring for a qualified full-time Senior SQL Database Engineer to become a member of the Finance Management Information Systems (FMIS) Engineering team, Defense Health Agency, Joint Base San Antonio (JBSA) Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, Texas.
This position is one-day per week on site in San Antonio, Texas and 4 days per week remote.

The SQL Data Base Developer is a hybrid database engineer who uses structured query language (SQL) to manipulate data, implement database-driven solutions, and build applications.
The SQL Developer designs relational databases and writes code that interacts with stored data to complete functional requirements for a business.
The SQL developer works alongside business analysts, database administrators, and other IT professionals to help create and maintain databases to control and manipulate data.
A thorough knowledge of T-SQL, stored procedures, scripting, backup and restore, table joins, web links.
Responsibilities also include designing and implementing database solutions for various projects, identifying database requirements, and ensuring high levels of data availability and security.
The Senior SQL Database Developer will work closely with cross-functional teams, including software engineers and data analysts, to develop database solutions that meet project requirements.
Qualifications
Minimum of 5 years of experience in SQL Server database administration and development
Experience with designing a SQL Database Architecture
Expertise in T-SQL stored procedures, functions, Indexing,
Query Execution Plan, Transaction Handling, Error Handling, and performance tuning
Experience with SQL server management tools, such as SSMS, SSRS, SQL Server Agent, and PowerShell
Proficiency in data modeling, schema design, and automation of complex database tasks
Experience writing complex SQL queries for integration with other applications
Experience creating user defined functions, views, and stored procedures
Experience working with intricate recursive queries, i.
e.
,Common Table Expressions (CTE) table variables
Experience with Agile development methodologies and tools, such as Scrum and Azure DevOps
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work as part of a team
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
Qualifications:
High School with 6 - 9 years (or commensurate experience)
Requirements:
DoD 8570 CompTIA Security + certification
US Citizen
Minimum of 5 years of experience in Microsoft SQL Server database administration and development
Ability to pass a background and drug test
Must be local to San Antonio, Texas.
Clearance Required: Public Trust (will sponsor)
Preferred: Microsoft Certification (preferred not required)

Posted Pay Range
The posted pay range, if referenced, reflects the range expected for this position at the commencement of employment, however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and internal equity.
The total compensation package for this position may also include other compensation elements, to be discussed during the hiring process.
If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the GovCIO reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, GovCIO or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
Posted Salary Range: USD $130,000.
