The primary responsibility of all Boysville staff is to provide a positive role model for our children.
Work schedule will reflect meeting the requirements under the essential job functions and will be overseen by the Emergency Shelter Director.
All employees of Boysville, Inc.
receive training in the Quality Improvement (QI) activities of the company and are required to actively participate in QI meetings, tasks, projects and/or committees, as needed.
Essential Job Functions: Establishing a regular daily routine.
Provide care for residents ages 0-17 years of age.
Provides 24/7 supervision of residents to include oversight during recreation, mealtime, play, and overnight.
Providing appropriate supervision by monitoring the living environment, setting and maintaining boundaries.
Supervision also includes monitoring residents usage of media (TV shows, video games, movies, internet usage, and social media).
Demonstrate and teach constructive behavior and social skills.
Assign, supervise and teach age appropriate chores for all residents.
Coordinate and participate the appropriate cottage activities to increase residents morale and social development.
Maintain inside and outside cottage living areas by cleaning, sanitizing, and reporting any repairs.
This includes maintenance of kitchen, dining area, living rooms, bedrooms, bathrooms, office areas, and outside areas.
Outside to include lawn maintenance.
Maintain adequate supplies for cleaning and other cottage related items.
Demonstrate and teach realistic problem-solving behaviors and life skills.
Ensuring residents have suitable clothing in regards to size, age, and weather conditions.
Provide appropriate personal hygiene products and teach appropriate hygiene skills.
Prepare nutritional meals according to USDA standards, complete menu documentation, order collect, and correctly store groceries.
Assisting initial orientation of all new residents.
Identifying signs and symptoms of illness, administering first aid when necessary, and reporting all conditions to supervisor.
Administer and document all medications, and inform appropriate parties of side effects.
Inform appropriate parties when medications are low.
Submit accurate documents in a timely manner, e.
g.
morning reports, incident reports, change over logs, and accident reports.
Participate in residents Plans of Service.
Attend and transport residents to appropriate facilities; including all medical/dental appointments, therapy, parent/child visitation, etc.
Transportation will be provided with a Boysville assigned vehicle.
Reinforce positive behaviors by providing healthy positive alternatives for residents such as: Treat residents with respect to form a trusting relationship.
Support and assist residents in all educational capacities to include homework, extracurricular activities, and monitoring grades.
Being a positive role model for residents and embrace Boysville mission and values.
Work as a team player and exhibit professional behavior and a positive attitude with both internal and external clients that reflects positively on Boysville, Inc.
Having the ability to know when to refer questions and situations to the supervisor and/or administrator.
Participate in all Performance Quality Improvement (PQI) standards to ensure quality care and accurate and informed services.
Ensure confidentiality of any information is maintained to include residents information, services provided, and internal and external investigations.
Other duties as assigned by Supervisor and or Administrator.
Essential Job Competencies: Follows policies and procedures of agency.
Builds and maintains professional, appropriate relationships with youth.
Uses effective problem-solving methods when addressing interpersonal differences with youth and co-workers.
Implements individual plans of service and goals consistently.
Supervises and monitors youth to ensure safety and compliance with rules of the agency.
Models appropriate behavior for youth (maintains positive, mature behavior; follows through on commitments and models compliance with rules; follows directions of administrative staff in charge; consistently and fairly applies rules; avoids negative methods of discipline i.
e.
threatening, shouting, isolating or shaming youth).
Uses the least restrictive discipline techniques; attends and actively participates in required meetings: supervisory, plans of service and others as assigned.
Communicates effectively, builds effective relationships with other staff, including but not limited to schedule and shift changes.
Maintains current certification in First Aid/CPR and SAMA.
Regularly attends and actively participates in required training; acquires 50 hours of training each year.
Works dependably (shows up on time, is available to work as needed, calls in properly when necessary, and doesnt call-in excessively or on a regularly basis).
Completes and submits all required forms and documentation in a timely manner.
Must have H.
S.
diploma or GED and 1 to 2 years relevant experience.
Must possess excellent communication, organization and time management skills.
Must have a valid drivers license with an excellent driving record.
Required to participate in a minimum of 50 training hours annually.
Must possess cultural sensitivity towards residents.
Must exhibit behavior that demonstrates cultural diversity and sensitivity (See Corporate Policy #2103).
Physical/Mental Requirements: Ability to read, write and converse in English.
Ability to care for up to 12 children.
Ability to communicate with staff, residents, families, vendors, support agencies and others.
Ability to handle stress.
Bending, lifting, grasping, fine hand/eye coordination, pushing/pulling, prolonged sitting/standing.
Ability to respond to telephones and other auditory stimulation.
Quantitative/mathematical ability (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, standard measurements).
