Searching for part time childcare for 2 girls (4 years and 5 years) in Marion TX.
I am a single mom who works from home running a dog behavior business online, so I am present in the home most of the time you would be there.
Being dog friendly or very tolerant is a must! 7 dogs currently in the home - no engagement with the dogs is required.
Hours can be adjusted slightly depending on availability, but I currently schedule work hours and need childcare Sun- Wed open times 10am-6pm.
We are a neurodivergent family (ASD and ADHD) with 7 dogs.
The house can be loud and chaotic at times, and there are some big behaviors from the kids as well (yelling, name calling, hitting, throwing, etc).
You must be willing to learn new strategies and set strong boundaries without relying on punishment.
This can be a highly structured (I can lay out what activities/food/etc to do) or unstructured position (just provided hours to start and end, and can fill your time with whatever activities you'd like).
Requirements
* 18+
* reliable transportation, license with clean driving history
* Ability to closely follow safety protocols related to dogs such as making sure doors and gates are always secure
* Experience with multiple kids
* Patience
* Comfortable helping with basic child care chores such as teeth brushing, baths, brushing hair, convincing to eat dinner
* Gentle parenting style approach - no physical punishment, no yelling, etc.
Strong boundary setting while remaining understanding, calm, and communicative with the child
* Reliable: I don’t mind people being a few minutes late here or there but since I run my own business, knowing as far in advance about schedule changes or absences is crucial
* Experience with neurodivergent/strong willed kids and willingness to learn more about neuroaffirming parenting strategies for neurodivergent kids.
They do not respond well to authoritative approaches.
* calm and confident in situations of conflict, such as an upset child throwing toys, attempting to hit the other child, or yelling.
* Direct communication - I need someone very “to the point” in communication about problems surrounding the kids and how their day went, etc.
open to developing a communication system involving things like scheduled check ins, etc to check in on job satisfaction, issues cropping up with the kids, etc
* Willingness/ability to pass background check

* Enjoys going out of the home and doing things, such as taking the girls to run errands, out to events, parks, pools, etc

* Have some scheduling flexibility and able to pick up additional hours here and there.
* Ability to work occasionally on additional weekend days
* Has experience considering and meeting kid's needs through activity, learning, and sensory activities
* An initial understanding of PDA (pathological demand avoidance) in kids
* Bonus: Actually likes dogs, willing to rotate packs to go out to the bathroom if I have to be gone for an appointment out of the house
* Bonus: Comfortable driving with the girls and running small errands such as picking up dog meds from the vet, picking up pull ups, etc
