Job Summary
Oversees and participates in the day-to-day operations of a Service Unit responsible for providing assistance to the public; recruits and trains volunteers to assist in performing intake work; performs public relations functions in the community to promote The Salvation Army services and needs; prepares statistical records and other required reports reflecting the Service Center's progress; performs specialized clerical and bookkeeping tasks in the recording and maintenance of precise fiscal records and financial data.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of basic double-entry bookkeeping principles and practices and of applications to accounting transactions.
Ability to recruit, lead, and supervise the work and/or resources of volunteers.
Ability to assess clients needs and determine appropriate services and/or resources needed.
Knowledge of modern office methods, procedures, and practices.
Knowledge of financial accounting systems and procedures.
Ability to prepare routine and special financial reports and records.
Ability to accept fiscal responsibility of assigned functionalized accounts.
Education and Experience
Associates Degree in Business Administration or related field, or completed certification in office management or administrative assistant, and two years of progressively responsible experience in the performance of bookkeeping, office coordination, or similar, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Physical Requirements/Working Conditions
Ability to meet attendance requirements.
Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language effectively.
Ability to keypunch information into a computer.
Ability to perform routine and complex mathematical computations repeatedly, rapidly and accurately.
Ability to operate various general office equipment including a computer and 10-key calculator.
Ability to work well under the pressure of deadlines.
Ability to follow instructions and work independently with limited supervision.
Ability and willingness to conduct all duties in accordance with the ministry of the organization and its Christian principles; conducts all communications and job duties with the highest level of professionalism.
Duties are usually performed seated.
Sitting may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of standing or walking.
Limited amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting and carrying light objects (less than 25 lbs.
) 5-10% of work time.
