Description
Valero is looking for a Customs Optimization Analyst to join the team at the Headquarters in San Antonio, Texas.
This position supports Foreign-Trade Zone(s) activities, broker filed Import/Export filings, and the Drawback program to optimize duty savings and recoveries for Valero.
This position:
Assists with Foreign Trade Zone as needed, including running operations, tracking activity, performing reconciliations, preparing submission and maintaining documentation, and preparing annual reports.
Provides support for the data gathering process to prepare and file Customs duty drawback claims for both Valero and DGD, including process documentation.
Responsible for timely filing and accuracy of drawback claims.
Reviews Valero’s and DGD’s broker filed entries for completeness and submits to Secondary Cost the Invoices for payment of Customs duties, taxes, and fees.
Retrieves invoices from SAP to send to broker to reconcile value on all broker filed entries.
Interfaces with outside brokers, agents, and agencies involved in the submission and reporting of Customs information as it relates to Valero and DGD import and export activities.
Assists with liaising with CBP regarding issues that arise during course of business.
Assists Valero and DGD with compliance related to special-trade programs, both the claiming of preferential duty and the preparation and certification of products under various special-trade programs.
Provides support, including gathering of data, for various ad hoc job reports, special projects, and other areas of compliance.
Liaises with internal departments across business units on import and export-related business matters.
Helps in creating and maintaining Company’s self-testing plans, which will include both risk assessment and monitoring, for Company’s Customs-related activities.
This position is salaried exempt status, which means you are not eligible for overtime pay.
Qualifications
Able and willing to work on-site, in-person at the Valero San Antonio Headquarters, required.
High School Diploma or GED required.
3+ years of experience in any of the following area(s) required:
Foreign trade zone/customs, legal, accounting, or internal/external auditing.
Bachelor’s or higher level degree in Accounting, Finance or business related field preferred.
Position level and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
