Staff Accountant

University Health is seeking a Staff Accountant to support our Financial Accounting Department.

Responsible for accurate, efficient and timely completion of assignments and preserving the privacy of confidential matters.
Maintains integrity of accounts and the viability of the general ledger system.
Job Duties Reviews and reconciles assigned general ledger accounts and resolves any discrepancies in assigned accounts to include patient accounts receivable, bank accounts, fixed asset accounts and investments according to established procedures Performs accounting assignments requiring sound knowledge of accounting theory and practice.
Performs reconciliations and variance analysis as well as month-end closing.
Assists with the creation of financial statements and with year-end audits Identifies and resolves any account discrepancies through cost analysis (Revenue and Expense) Assists departments throughout the Health System in performing Budget vs.
Actual Analysis each month Identifies and analyzes significant fluctuations in income, expense, asset or liability balances and reports findings to appropriate staff Prepares monthly hospital financial statements for Board presentation Prepares monthly sales tax returns Prepares other reports to state and federal agencies as required Prepares special reports from accounting records as required Maintains property ledger and balances to general ledger Performs all accounting functions required for matters relative to grants Records deposits of cash to various bank accounts and transfers among accounts Prepares journal entries as required Assists external and internal auditors in their search and review of accounts Assists in testing software upgrades or software implementation Conducts audits of checks over $10,000 Performs other duties assigned Education/ Experience Bachelor’s degree is required Two years of relevant post-degree accounting experience is required Must have proficient PC skills in Word processing and spreadsheets Must possess analytical abilities and interpersonal skills to review account activity and successfully communicate issues So if you want to work for a top rated company with opportunity for advancement come and join our team! #cbhs
